Pietà

Pietà

Little art history lesson about the Pietà:

The Pietà (Italian for pity) is a subject in Christian art depicting the Virgin Mary cradling the dead body of Jesus, most often found in sculpture…. The Pietà developed in Germany about 1300, reached Italy about 1400, and was especially popular in Central Europe…. The most famous Pietà is Michelangelo’s Pietà in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.

I knew art school had to be good for something.

Edit: Looks like I screwed up the comment settings when I tried to fix some spam problems I was having last week. So if anyone was unable to comment, you should be able to now. Sorry!
