MN Opera presents The Magic Flute

As I’ve done in the past, I’m posting some life drawings I did last week at the MN Opera, of their incredible production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute. It was by far the most unusual and visually thrilling of all the operas I’ve seen — not that I’ve seen tons and tons of operas — due largely to the fact that it was visually inspired by the German Expressionist cinema of the 1920s and ’30s. I wasn’t able to do the production justice since a lot of the effects were too brief to get good life drawings from, but I did manage to record a few things…

This was the only show I was able to make during this past season, and I’m so glad I did! A wonderful experience all around.
